It's misalignment — between what an operator says they'll do and what the structure actually requires them to do when conditions deteriorate. Dave's role is to surface that misalignment early, under controlled pressure, before capital is committed and before the stress is real.

Melissa serves as Operating Manager of Afterburner Equity, where she oversees governance architecture, partner engagement, and content development.
Her approach to the role mirrors the firm's broader operating philosophy: process over pace, clarity over enthusiasm, and structure before anything else. She brings organizational discipline and a detail orientation that keeps governance documentation, communication standards, and partner-facing materials aligned with the firm's institutional positioning.
Melissa co-manages Afterburner Equity alongside Dave, and her fingerprints are on the operational systems that make the firm's governance commitments more than a positioning statement — standardized reporting, documented underwriting assumptions, defined communication cadence, and the operational layer that makes the firm's governance commitments auditable rather than aspirational.
